From all the mechanical transformations available to increase the VW engines power, since the early 1950's, the Okrasa kit 1300 was probably the best conceived and the most efficient. This explains why it is still today so successfull.

Okrasa, although it "sounds" japanese, comes in fact from Oettinger Kraftfahrtechnische Spezial Anstalt.

This company, founded in 1951 by Gerhard Oettinger, engineer, quickly specialised in the Volkswagen engine preparation, first the small 1131cc with 25 cv (horse), then the 1192cc with 30 cv and finally the 34 cv.

As years go by, and its good reputation spreading, companies such as Rometsch and Dannenhauer & Stauss ask Okrasa to equip new vehicles and thus improving their performance as well as their look. During the automn 1964, the belgian importer D'Ieteren will even commercialize a special series of Beetles, called Mach 1. This VW equipped with an Okrasa kit 1300 that brings its power near 50 cv at 4 200 trs, equivalent to a 1600 produced in 1971 !
