Main noticeable details :
No important change until October 1st when a model completely re-worked appears. Twelve Hebmüller will be manufactured during this period, and 3917 Karmann.

October 1, 1952, new model with the following modifications :
Outside : new heart shaped lens, decklid, licence light, front and rear door-handles in T, mouldings, front grille (oval), smooth bumpers, aluminium mouldings around the side and rear windows.

Inside : new dashboard, speedo (in front of the driver), driving wheel, glove compartment (with door and push-button), rearview mirror (round corners). Introduction of the quarter lights. Only 3,25 turns are necessary to rolling down the window (instead of 10,5 before). The manual starter passes from the chassis to the dashboard, and the inside light command of the rear on the left. The heating command is new, like the electric circuit.

The engine compartment is sound-proofed. Mechanically, the gearbox sees its ratios for 2, 3 and 4 synchronised. Rims 3 x 16 are replaced by rims 4 x15. At the front, the shock absorbers are longer, like the torsion bars at the rear, but with a diameter decreased from 25 mm to 24 mm.

End of February 1953, the rear window " split " type is replaced by the oval window. That's the end of an era !

All these informations on the "Split" come out from Super VW Magazine.
