On March 8, 1950, starts the mass production of the Type 29 (which will become the Type 21) also called "Transporter" or "Kastenwagen".

As from May 1950, a new model comes out : the Type 23, better known as "Kombi" because it allows to transport either passengers or goods, once the back bench-seats are removed.

All Type 2 models are now equipped with an engine with cooling shutters, opened and closed thanks to a thermostat. The engine thus reaches its functioning temperature faster and can be run without any restriction.

The uppper sketch represents the 1949 prototype Transporter and underneath the Transporter mass-produced as from March 8, 1950.

On these two photographs, you can note the modifications made on the front seats for the mass production. Indeed you can note that the tubular frame of the bench-seat is covered and looses the second adjusting notch allowing to bring forward or backward the bench-seat in the first version.

During June 1950 appears the Type 22 or "Microbus", in fact a Type 23 with a Deluxe "finished" version for passengers transport. The main differences with the Kombi remain inside : rubber carpet, sun-visor, vanity mirror, side coat-hanger hooks, ashtrays, luggage compartment.
