In August 1952, the Type 26 or pick-up appears in the VW catalog.

In March, the back receives a second reflector. In August 1952, the Type 26 comes out, new pick-up with folding side rails called "Pritschewagen", with a 4,2 m2 platform, which can receive a cover, and a 2 m3 luggage room with a lock and which can be equipped with archs and a cotton linen cover. As for the ambulance, the engine compartment has to be adapted to the body.

End of 1952, the entire range benefits from a new gear box with synchronised 2, 3 & 4th gear ratios.

The camping-Box is now delivered with a linen shed allowing to double the living space.
