First Volkswagen factory built after the second world war, the Hanover factory cannot deny its family look with the Wolfsburg's one. Producing exclusively the Type 2, it will be the greatest utility vehicles factory in Europe. |
The
Hanover factory opens on March 8, 1956. Because of the
production site change, the Type 2 knows few modifications
during this year. The external right-hand rearview mirror is
now systematically installed, and the ignition is
strengthened.

This picture taken in 1956 shows clearly that the architects who designed the Hanover factory did it in consideration with the Type 2 dimensions. The Pick-up you can see front-side with empty head lights and winking lights, is an "Export " model for the U.S.A. |
