This
prototype of double cabin Pick-up will be presented at the
Frankfurt fair in 1957. It is different from the serial
model by its access door at the back seats quite wide and
opens backward-forward, unlike the others. The rails are not
definitive yet.
The
Pick-up with the widened platform in wood is realised by
Westfalia. Presented to the public in 1957, it is
commercialised in 1958.
This
Kombi has been specially installed as a shop for the dairy
products distribution in rural areas. The Type 2 is ideal
for this kind of commerce.
Between
1955 and 1960 in the U.S.A., the Type 2 wins its reputation
of universal utility vehicle. Here, for the USAAF, this
microbus is the students-pilots vehicle for the 22nd Air
Refueling School.
