The dashboard is more modern than the Split Bus' one. The gear lever is longer by 4 cm and much less precise. Three round displays are deeply fitted in a black " crackled look " plastic panel in front of the driver. They come from VDO and during the first years the background is grey and fading at the center. Afterwards, it becomes completely black. A daily counter is also optional. On the Deluxe Car VW models ; the dashboard is totally covered with black plastic. Above, you will note the presence of a glove compartment door. On the left you have the gas gauge and nothing on the right, or a cap or even a watch for the Deluxe version. But there has never been a tachometer ! A space is provided for the radio. Over the ashtray, you can see the speed screen design. Underneath is the hand-brake lever. At each extremity of the dashboard, there is an inlet for fresh air or heat, alike at the bottom of the front panel. Regarding the comodo for the indicators, it is in a first time chromed with a black plastic button.
